Matt Forte's time with the Chicago Bears has come to an end.
The veteran tailback, who is set to become a free agent in March, announced Friday he's been informed by the Bears that he won't be re-signed.
Bears general manager Ryan Pace said in a statement that moving on from Forte, whom he called an "all-time great" Bears player, was a difficult decision.
In eight seasons in the Windy City, Forte rushed for 8,602 yards and 45 touchdowns and added 4,116 yards and 19 touchdowns through the air.
The Bears will likely move forward with a one-two punch of young tailbacks Jeremy Langford and Ka'Deem Carey.
