Guus Hiddink wants Didier Drogba to join Chelsea's coaching staff

Interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink said he wants to add club legend Didier Drogba to his coaching staff, but admitted a move would be difficult as the Ivorian is currently under contract with the Montreal Impact.

Drogba was at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's 3-1 win over Sunderland, sitting with Hiddink and owner Roman Abramovich in the boxes. While the Impact have denied links to a move, Hiddink said otherwise.

"We would like to get him involved," Hiddink told Fox Sports, as quoted by ESPN FC. "But he still has a contract with Montreal in the MLS, even though it is the close season for them now. But we definitely intend to get him involved. We want to get important players involved with the club they care about.

"Drogba's heart is with Chelsea."

Drogba and his fellow Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard joined Major League Soccer in the 2015 season, with Lampard heading to New York City FC from Manchester City. Drogba immediately settled into Montreal's lineup, scoring 12 goals in 12 games and guiding the Impact to a playoff berth.

It seems unlikely Impact owner Joey Saputo would allow a coaching move to develop without Drogba first seeing out his contract for the 2016 MLS campaign.
