Bryson DeChambeau broke his silence Sunday regarding the end of LIV Golf's operations, saying he won't "rewrite the last four years" over his decision to join the now-defunct league.

"Arnold Palmer said no player is bigger than the game, and I want to acknowledge that, along the way, I've said some things that didn't help," DeChambeau said in a statement on social media. "Whatever comes next, I'll approach it with humility and respect for the people who carried this game long before me."

LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy in September after losing funding from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which had contributed over $5 billion to the startup that managed to pry away several high-profile golfers from the PGA Tour since 2022. The league had floated a potential new model for next season without the financial backing of Saudi Arabia, but those plans fell apart after the likes of Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia announced their exits from LIV Golf.

DeChambeau said in late October that he planned to remain with LIV Golf through its attempted relaunch, which he hoped would ensure the league's existence "forever." Before joining the league in June 2022, DeChambeau repeatedly stated that he had no intention of leaving the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed startup. The 33-year-old won five LIV Golf events.

The PGA Tour has allowed former LIV Golf members to return, albeit with strict penalties. In January, two-time U.S. Open winner Brooks Koepka was welcomed back as part of an unprecedented agreement that blocked him from receiving FedEx Cup bonus money in 2026 as well as any equity in the Tour for five years.

However, the Tour said at the time that Koepka's agreement was a limited, one-time opportunity. It reportedly won't consider the potential return of additional players from LIV Golf until January at the earliest, preferring to wait until the league's bankruptcy proceedings are completed.
