Golden Tempo chases down pack for historic Kentucky Derby win

Golden Tempo claimed a shocking victory at the 152nd Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, coming from the back of the pack to win with 23-1 odds.

With Golden Tempo's victory, Cherie DeVaux becomes the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby and the second female trainer to win any of the Triple Crown events.

Renegade, who was among the favorites, finished second, while Ocelli came third.

Great White was scratched minutes before the race after flipping and throwing his jockey near the starting gates. The Puma was also scratched earlier due to a skin infection that caused swelling in his leg.

The Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the Triple Crown, will be held on May 16.
