Charge's Philips named PWHL playoff MVP in losing effort

Ottawa Charge netminder Gwyneth Philips won the Ilana Kloss playoff MVP award despite her team falling to the Minnesota Frost in the PWHL Finals on Monday.

Philips led all PWHL goalies with eight games played, a .952 save percentage, and a 1.23 goals-against average during the postseason. She posted a 4-4 record, with all four of her losses coming in overtime.

Philips turned aside 36 of 38 shots in Monday's 2-1 Game 4 loss.

The honor comes on the heels of a stellar rookie campaign for the Northeastern University product. Philips finished fourth among qualified goalies with a .919 save percentage in 15 regular-season games.
