The New York Mets pulled the plug on boxers Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia throwing out ceremonial first pitches Tuesday to avoid a potential on-field incident, sources told Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix.
The Mets had scheduled Haney and Garcia to make the throws before taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates at Citi Field, with "King Ry" even warming up for the moment.
The pair got into a scuffle at the Empire State Building earlier Tuesday.
Haney and Garcia have been going at each other in person and on social media for months leading up to their title fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this Saturday.
