New York Mets reliever Yohan Ramírez's suspension for throwing near the head of Milwaukee Brewers slugger Rhys Hoskins was reduced from three games to two, it was announced Monday, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Ramírez, who had been appealing the original ban, dropped his appeal in exchange for the lesser ban, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. He'll begin serving the suspension immediately and will be eligible to return for Wednesday's series finale against the Detroit Tigers. The Mets will have to play one man short during his absence.

Ramírez was ejected from Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers after he sailed a 94-mph fastball behind Hoskins at the start of the latter's seventh-inning at-bat. The questionable pitch came a few innings after Hoskins hit a home run and one day after Hoskins' hard slide into Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil sparked a brief benches-clearing incident.

Both Ramírez and Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, who served a one-game suspension on Sunday, denied any intent after the game.

Ramírez pitched three innings against Milwaukee on Sunday while he was appealing the suspension. He faced Hoskins twice during that game with no further incidents.

The 28-year-old right-hander, who joined the Mets in the offseason, owns a lifetime 4.03 ERA across parts of five big-league seasons.
