Dodgers trade Margot to Twins
The Los Angeles Dodgers dealt outfielder Manuel Margot, shortstop prospect Rayne Doncon, and cash to the Minnesota Twins for infield prospect Noah Miller, both teams announced Monday.
Los Angeles sent $6 million in cash to the Twins, an amount that covers over half of Margot's $10-million salary this season, sources told Fabian Ardaya and Dan Hayes of The Athletic. His contract includes a $12-million club option for 2025 with a $2-million buyout, but the Twins won't be responsible for the buyout cost if they decline the option, The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman reports.
Following the trade, the Dodgers brought back utility man Enrique Hernández on a one-year deal.
Margot provides the Twins with additional outfield depth. Byron Buxton, Max Kepler, and Matt Wallner are currently projected to start for Minnesota.
The 29-year-old Margot never suited up for the Dodgers outside of spring training following an offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays that also brought right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the West Coast.
The eight-year veteran slashed .264/.310/.376 with four homers and 38 RBIs over 99 games last season.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Miller went deep eight times with 60 RBIs and 12 steals over 120 contests in Single-A in 2023.
Doncon, 20, hit 14 homers with a .651 OPS across 107 contests in Single-A last year.
