The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coordinator, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kingsbury spent 2023 as a senior offensive analyst at USC after being fired by the Cardinals at the end of the 2022 campaign. The 44-year-old posted a 28-37-1 record across four seasons in Arizona, making the playoffs just once.

Led by quarterback Kyler Murray, the Cardinals' offense had solid moments under Kingsbury. However, the unit failed to replicate that success throughout a full season and didn't rank in the top 10 in scoring during the Kingsbury era.

Kingsbury previously served as Texas A&M's offensive coordinator (2012) and Texas Tech's head coach (2013-18). He's worked with multiple high-profile quarterbacks throughout his coaching career, including Murray, Patrick Mahomes, and Caleb Williams, who's projected to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Las Vegas' offense ranked 23rd and 27th in total points and yards in 2023, respectively. The team parted ways with offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi in November, along with head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler, after a 3-5 start to the campaign.

It was another disappointing year for the Raiders, who started three different quarterbacks: Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O'Connell, and Brian Hoyer. After removing the interim tag on head coach Antonio Pierce earlier this month, Las Vegas is expected to pursue a new quarterback in the upcoming offseason.

The Raiders also interviewed UCLA head coach Chip Kelly for their OC opening before ultimately choosing Kingsbury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
