Ekeler off injury report, set to return for MNF vs. Cowboys
The Los Angeles Chargers left Austin Ekeler off the injury report Saturday, putting the running back on track to return Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Ekeler missed the last three games with an ankle injury. He was a full participant in practice throughout the week.
The running back is expected to have a normal workload, head coach Brandon Staley said Saturday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
His only appearance of the 2023 season came in Week 1 when he rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
The Chargers struggled to replace Ekeler's production during his absence. The team rushed for just 91 yards combined over Weeks 2 and 3 before compiling a 155-yard effort on the ground in Week 4.
Joshua Kelley received most of the workload while Ekeler was out. However, he struggled to be an efficient option, averaging just 3.6 yards per carry.
Quarterback Justin Herbert, who's dealing with a broken finger on his left hand, was also left off the injury report. Pass-rusher Joey Bosa is questionable due to a toe injury.
The Chargers are fresh off their bye week and head into Monday's prime-time game with a 2-2 record.
