Harden calls 76ers' Morey 'liar,' vows to never play for him again
James Harden made it clear how he felt about Daryl Morey just a few days after the Philadelphia 76ers reportedly ended trade talks involving the star guard.
"Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of," Harden said of the 76ers' president of basketball operations during an Adidas marketing event in China, per The Athletic's Shams Charania. "Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of."
Harden is at odds with Morey because he has yet to receive a long-term max contract offer from the club, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 10-time All-Star exercised his $35.6-million player option in June, hoping to be dealt. The 76ers have reportedly spoken with the Los Angeles Clippers - Harden's preferred destination - but no significant progress on a potential trade has been made.
While Philadelphia apparently plans on bringing Harden to training camp, the former MVP doesn't intend to take part or suit up again for the club.
Harden averaged 21 points, 10.7 assists, and 6.1 boards over 58 appearances last season. He shot 38.5% from deep and 44.1% from the field overall.
