Manchester United sign Malacia to get summer business underway
Manchester United officially kick-started their summer transfer window Tuesday with the signing of left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
Though some big names have left the club since the end of the 2021-22 campaign, Malacia represents the first incoming player of Erik ten Hag's reign. The 22-year-old signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional year.
Malacia cost an initial €15 million with a potential €2 million following in add-ons, according to The Guardian's Jamie Jackson.
United have also reportedly agreed to sign Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
"This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new teammates and a tremendous manager leading us," Malacia said.
"I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities that he has and what he demands of his players."
Malacia will join the squad on its flight to Bangkok on Friday. United play a friendly against Liverpool in the Thai capital before flying to Australia for meetings with Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa.
"Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt," Malacia added.
