Ertz says relationship with Eagles is 'mended': This is where I want to be

After an offseason filled with trade speculation, Zach Ertz says his relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles has been "mended," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

"This is the place I want to be, this is the place I want to retire," Ertz said Wednesday.

The longtime Eagles tight end headed into the 2021 offseason with a cloud of uncertainty over his future. The two sides couldn't agree on a new contract prior to last season and Ertz reportedly drew trade interest throughout the offseason. However, the Eagles were reluctant to move him without receiving suitable compensation.

"I'm moving on from everything that happened this offseason," the 30-year-old said. "There have been apologies."

Ertz wouldn't elaborate on whether he felt the Eagles organization treated him honestly, calling it a "moot point," according to The Athletic's Zach Berman.

"They were standing firm to what they believe was fair. I can't fault them for that," Ertz added.

A second-round pick in 2013, Ertz has spent all eight years of his career with Philadelphia. He was consistently one of the club's top pass-catching options, recording over 700 receiving yards in each season from 2014-19. However, he was limited to 11 games and a career-low 335 yards last season.

Ertz is entering the final year of his contract and is set to earn $8.5 million in base salary, per Spotrac.
