Report: Beal on fence about future with Wizards
Bradley Beal may no longer be a long-term lock to stay in D.C.
Beal has recently been on the fence at times about his future with the Washington Wizards, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania. He has reportedly seriously mulled his situation in recent weeks.
The 28-year-old, who has been considering his career over the weekend, may make a decision this week, Charania reports.
Beal has at least another year under contract with the Wizards, but a $37.3-million player option in 2022 could allow him to enter free agency as soon as next summer. If he informs Washington's front office he doesn't intend to re-sign, the Wizards could trade the three-time All-Star this offseason to avoid losing him for nothing in return.
Should Washington attempt to deal Beal ahead of next season, the nine-year veteran will command significant interest on the trade market. The Golden State Warriors are reportedly prepared to make Beal their top priority if he becomes available.
