The Golden State Warriors have selected Arkansas guard Moses Moody with the No. 14 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Moody is coming off a standout freshman season with the Razorbacks in which he put up a team-high 16.8 points per game as their best long-distance threat while also being tasked to guard some of the best opposing scorers across multiple positions. He added 5.8 rebounds per game (second on the team) as he was named to the All-SEC first team and won the conference's Freshman of the Year award.

The 19-year-old figures to operate in a similar off-ball role in the NBA at first until he gains more confidence with the ball in his hands. His growing frame will allow him to jump in and immediately defend bigger wings in the league as he eases into a new offensive system.

Bio

Position: SG
School: Arkansas
College experience: Freshman
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 210.6 lbs
Wingspan: 7-foot-1
Max vertical: N/A

Strengths

  • Prototypical 3-and-D prospect; disrupted opposing wings with his frame and long wingspan while shooting 35.8% on 5.1 threes per game.
  • Can put the ball on the floor and pull up from midrange after baiting defenders into the air.
  • Great rebounding guard at both ends thanks to his size and high motor.
  • Occasionally set up teammates inside with deft passes, showing potential as a secondary facilitator.

Weaknesses

  • Could take care of the ball better; racked up 52 total turnovers as a freshman but only 51 assists.
  • Needs to finish better at the rim for his size.
  • Long-term upside unclear due to limited ability to create his own offense.
