Unai Simon was a spectator for much of the opening 20 minutes of Spain's last-16 meeting with Croatia, but he then provided a moment that will haunt him for the rest of his career.

The goalkeeper was under no pressure whatsoever when he let Pedri's pass skip over his foot and into the net, gifting a ridiculous opening goal to Croatia on Monday.

Simon's gaffe allowed the ninth own goal of the tournament - the same number tallied in the previous 15 European Championships combined.

Spain's Pablo Sarabia canceled out Simon's error with an equalizer in the 38th minute.
