Although Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed Thursday Detroit is in talks with Todd Gurley, he made clear the Lions' push for the free-agent rusher has nothing to do with his confidence in D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

"I would say this, just because we have interest in (Gurley), that does not affect our feeling and our thoughts on both Swift and Jamaal," Campbell said, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk.

Swift accumulated 878 scrimmage yards during his rookie campaign in 2020. Williams, a free-agent addition, rushed for over 450 yards in each of his past four seasons while with the Green Bay Packers.

The Lions reportedly hosted Gurley on a free-agent visit last week. Campbell said Thursday he'd like to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

Gurley earned three Pro Bowl nods while with the Los Angeles Rams before spending the 2020 season with the Atlanta Falcons. The 26-year-old back rushed for a career-low 678 yards last year.
