Barcelona are close to signing Memphis Depay on a free transfer, The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports.

Depay, who's leaving Lyon at the end of the season, is reportedly finalizing a multi-year contract with the Blaugrana.

The news comes as Sergio Aguero nears his own move to Catalonia. The 32-year-old has reportedly agreed to join the club on a two-year deal, and a formal announcement could come after the Champions League final. Aguero and Manchester City face Chelsea in the final on May 29.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman said in October that he wanted to sign Depay in January, having coached the 27-year-old at international level with the Netherlands. Barca's financial situation prevented the move from materializing.

Koeman's future remains uncertain despite reports of Depay's arrival. The 58-year-old said Friday he wants to remain manager and will speak to club president Joan Laporta over the next few days.

Barcelona can finish no higher than third in La Liga.

Depay rebuilt his career at Lyon after a disastrous spell at Manchester United in 2015-16. He's second only to Kylian Mbappe in Ligue 1 scoring this season, notching 20 goals in 36 appearances.

"I want to go to one of the top two or three clubs in the five big leagues," Depay, who has no agent, said Friday. "I want to control things, to know what I'm signing. I know what I'm worth."
