Sergio Aguero has agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City this summer, The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports.

Aguero is expected to sign a two-year contract at less than €10 million per season.

Barcelona are also offering pending free agent Memphis Depay a multi-year deal, according to Romano. Depay said Friday he'll be leaving Lyon when his contract expires at the end of June.

It's unclear if Aguero's arrival will have any impact on Lionel Messi's future at Barcelona. Messi's contract runs out June 30, and while there's no indication he's re-signing with the Blaugrana, the Argentine reportedly counts compatriot Aguero as a friend.

Aguero, City's all-time leading scorer with 258 goals, will be leaving Eastlands after a decade at the club. He's scored just twice in the Premier League this campaign, missing key stretches of the season due to injury and COVID-19.

Barcelona's deal for Aguero would appear to preclude an approach for Borussia Dortmund darling Erling Haaland, whose agent, Mino Raiola, held talks with the Blaugrana earlier in the year. Dortmund apparently slapped a €180-million price tag on the Norwegian phenom, who's still under contract for three more seasons.

Barcelona have gross debt totaling more than €1 billion, making a deal for Haaland all but impossible.

Club officials appreciated Aguero's willingness to take a salary cut, a source told ESPN's Moises Llorens and Adriana Garcia.

However, Barcelona still want to sign at least two strikers this summer, according to Llorens and Garcia. The club is reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica's Darwin Nunez, Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak, and Villarreal's Gerard Moreno.
