Mahomes excited about Royals' hot start
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is taking great delight in the Royals' early success this season.
"I think we have the best record in AL right now," Mahomes said Monday during a press conference, according to Ed Easton Jr. of USA Today Sports. "I know it's by a couple of percentage points, but to see them starting so hot and really getting contributions from everybody on the team gives me optimism of having a great run. It's carried over since spring training and will hopefully carry through the rest of the season."
Mahomes, the son of former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes, joined the Royals' ownership group last summer after signing a 10-year, $450-million extension with the Chiefs. He was on hand to watch the Royals on Opening Day.
The Royals entered Tuesday with a 9-6 record, good for first place in the AL Central.
