Kluber to throw in front of MLB scouts on Wednesday
Free-agent right-hander Corey Kluber will throw in front of major-league teams on Wednesday to show he's healthy ahead of the 2021 campaign.
The two-time American League Cy Young award winner has only appeared in eight games over the past two seasons because of injuries, including one to his pitching shoulder.
"I don't have a mindset that I need to prove myself to anyone, so to speak," the 34-year-old recently told ESPN's Jesse Rogers. "I just need to show people that I'm healthy. I'm not putting pressure on myself to go out there and do X, Y, and Z. It's just about showing teams I'm progressing through a normal offseason."
Kluber's 25-to-30 pitch showcase will take place at Cressey Sports Performance in Florida and is expected to include scouts from two-thirds of MLB clubs.
The Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, and Washington Nationals are among the franchises expected to attend, according to various reports.
Kluber ranked second in wins and innings pitched from 2014-2018 and was worth the third-most WAR among MLB starters, according to FanGraphs.
The 34-year-old only threw one inning for the Texas Rangers in 2020 after being acquired via trade from the Cleveland Indians.
