The Houston Astros are focused on signing free-agent closer Liam Hendriks, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Houston reportedly wanted to add Hendriks and reliever Blake Treinen, who re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
Hendriks posted a 1.79 ERA with 39 saves and 161 strikeouts over 110 1/3 innings across the last two seasons combined. The 31-year-old could provide a big boost for an Astros bullpen that finished 10th in fWAR (1.1) in the American League during the 2020 campaign.
The Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and Dodgers are also reportedly interested in Hendriks.
