Liverpool are tracking the progress of Brighton & Hove Albion's Yves Bissouma as they seek a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum in the heart of Jurgen Klopp's XI, sources told ESPN's Julien Laurens.
The Seagulls' indefatigable midfielder would reportedly cost around £30 million. In addition to Liverpool, Bissouma has drawn admiring glances from Manchester United, AS Monaco, and two Spanish clubs.
Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and the club's recruitment team have reportedly identified Bissouma as an ideal fit for the reigning Premier League champions. Wijnaldum, 30, appears increasingly likely to leave Liverpool when his contract expires in the summer and is linked with a move to Barcelona.
Brighton are braced for offers for Bissouma as soon as the January transfer window. The 24-year-old Malian international has been a bright spot during an otherwise frustrating campaign for Brighton; he ranks third in the Premier League for successful tackles (40), has tallied the second-most blocked passes (15), and has completed the same number of dribbles as Mohamed Salah and Wilfried Zaha (19).
Bissouma moved to Brighton in summer 2018 for around £15 million. He previously represented Lille, where his teammates included Arsenal's Nicolas Pepe and Aston Villa's Anwar El Ghazi.
