Manchester City are in discussions with Napoli for the services of Kalidou Koulibaly, according to a report from The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

Pep Guardiola seeks a second center-back recruit after Nathan Ake was lured to the Etihad Stadium from relegation-bound Bournemouth earlier in the window for a £41-million fee.

It will be interesting to see what effect previous relations between City and Napoli have on the progress of Koulibaly's potential Premier League switch.

City were reportedly displeased after an agreement was reached with Jorginho two summers ago, only for the former Napoli regista to join Chelsea instead.

Koulibaly, 29, has also been linked with City rivals Manchester United and would amount to an upgrade in central defense over John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi. Teenage center-back Eric Garcia has also been associated with a Barcelona return, prompting Guardiola's interest in Koulibaly.

Napoli are understood to demand no less than £62-million for the towering Senegalese ball-stopper.
