Friday's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox has been postponed, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Major League Baseball is hoping the two teams can play a doubleheader Saturday, which would mark the first time the Cardinals have played since July 29 due to a COVID-19 outbreak, Sherman adds.

Friday's contest was postponed because a St. Louis coach tested positive for COVID-19, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network. It's believed the Cardinals now have at least 18 members of the organization that have tested positive.

The Cardinals are planning to travel to Chicago on Friday, a source told Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

St. Louis still needs to work out and has been aiming for Thursday, according to Goold. He adds that the league wanted to find a way to get the team on the field for at least two days.

The Cardinals reportedly had four consecutive days of encouraging test results prior to Thursday.
