Report: MLB, Turner Sports agree to billion-dollar broadcast deal
Major League Baseball has landed a broadcast deal in the range of $1 billion with Turner Sports for games to continue to be televised on the network, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports.
As part of the deal, Turner will broadcast one of the league championship series, sources told Marchand.
The renewal comes with around a 40% average annual increase, sources told John Ourand and Eric Prisbell of Sports Business Daily.
Turner will pay an average of approximately $470 million per year through 2028, Ourand and Prisbell report. It pays a yearly average of $325 million on its current deal, which is set to expire after the 2021 campaign.
The agreement isn't finalized, though, and hasn't been presented to the owners for a vote, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.
MLB already has a deal with FOX Sports for the other league championship series, as well as the World Series.
