Tom Thibodeau is confident he'll be back patrolling an NBA sideline next season and has been asking around the league for advice on the best head coaching opportunity, sources told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

It's unclear where Thibodeau might land or which teams he's eyeing, but the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets could be possible destinations after both clubs fired their bench bosses during the 2019-20 campaign.

Thibodeau has multiple connections with the Knicks. The organization's new president of basketball operations, Leon Rose, is a former CAA agent who used to represent the 62-year-old. Additionally, Thibodeau served as an assistant coach with New York from 1996-2003.

Thibodeau was fired by the Minnesota Timberwolves in January 2019 after a 19-21 start to the season. He went just 97-107 overall during parts of three campaigns as T-Wolves head coach and president of basketball operations, but he also guided the club to its only playoff berth in the last 16 years.

Beforehand, Thibodeau enjoyed a highly successful five-year reign at the helm of the Chicago Bulls. During his first season in charge, Thibodeau earned Coach of the Year honors by leading the Bulls to an NBA-best 62-20 mark, which also tied the league record for the most victories by a rookie head coach.
