Tottenham have joined the chase to sign £30-million-rated striker Krzysztof Piatek from Milan to help fill the void left by Harry Kane's latest long-term injury.

Aston Villa and Newcastle have also reportedly expressed interest in luring the Polish forward to English shores, with The Guardian's David Hynter adding that Spurs hope to secure Piatek on an interim basis.

Piatek, who started his Milan career in fine form following a move from Genoa last January, is out of favor at the San Siro with the recent addition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It's unclear if Piatek will look to stay and fight for his position amid suggestions that Milan boss Stefano Pioli could opt for a two striker set-up, or if he'll seek a temporary change of scenery.

The intrigue of Tottenham's Champions League last-16 spot could also provide motivation for both the 24-year-old and Milan, with Hynter adding that Spurs might be more willing to make a move if they can recoup something for wantaway midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Linked with Milan rivals Inter, Eriksen will be out of contract with Spurs in the summer. There are also reports that the north London lot could ship the Denmark international in January for £20 million.

Tottenham will be forced to make do without Kane until March after he tore his hamstring on New Year's Day. The England man is the only traditional forward in Jose Mourinho's current first team - a fact the Portuguese gaffer lamented following the team's 1-1 FA Cup draw with Middlesbrough.
