David Moyes was named West Ham manager on Sunday for the second time in just over two years.

Moyes has penned an 18-month deal with the club and will be on the touchline for a visit from Bournemouth on New Year's Day, according to West Ham's official statement.

The Scottish gaffer is replacing Manuel Pellegrini, who was sacked on Saturday after guiding the Irons to a ninth league defeat in 12 outings.

In his previous stint at West Ham, Moyes took over for Slaven Bilic in November 2017 as the team languished in the relegation zone. Moyes would guide the club to survival during that 2017-18 season, but he was not offered a new deal following the campaign.

Before leaving West Ham, Moyes became the fourth manager to record 200 Premier League victories, joining Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, and Harry Redknapp.

"I do believe that the squad of players I’ve got here is a better squad of players than when I took over before, so I am looking forward to working with them," Moyes said Sunday.

West Ham currently sit 17th in the Premier Leauge, just one point ahead of Aston Villa and a place in the relegation zone. They own the worst home standard in the league, having recorded a scant seven points in nine matches at the London Stadium.
