Hoyas' Akinjo, LeBlanc no longer on team, reportedly enter transfer portal
Georgetown guard James Akinjo and forward Josh LeBlanc are no longer on the Hoyas, the team announced Monday.
Both players are entering the transfer portal, a source told Stadium's Jeff Goodman.
No reason was provided by the school for the two sophomores' sudden departure. In a statement, Hoyas head coach Patrick Ewing said only that Akinjo and LeBlanc "will not be members of the team for the remainder of the season."
Akinjo, the 2018-19 Big East Freshman of the Year, appeared in seven games this season and was Georgetown's second-leading scorer with 13.4 points per game. He averaged a team-high 4.4 assists along with three rebounds and two steals in 30.7 minutes per contest.
LeBlanc averaged 7.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in six games. He made 22 starts for the Hoyas as a rookie but has exclusively come off the bench in his second year.
