Earl Thomas: Ravens' Super Bowl opponent is 'going to be in trouble'
The Baltimore Ravens face the San Francisco 49ers in a much-anticipated Week 13 matchup between two powerhouse teams this season.
On Wednesday, Ravens safety Earl Thomas said Sunday's tilt could be a preview of Super Bowl LIV.
"You think the 49ers are going to the Super Bowl? It could be. Let’s see," Thomas told reporters, including ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "When the Super Bowl comes, whoever we play, they’re going to be in trouble."
Baltimore has been included in Super Bowl discussions for much of this season.
On Monday after another lights-out performance, quarterback Lamar Jackson dismissed the hype tied to his MVP-caliber campaign, saying his goal is to win a ring. His teammates supported him.
"I feel like everybody in the huddle has that same vision - all 11 guys see the Super Bowl in our near future, and it starts with Lamar," said wide receiver Willie Snead.
The Ravens-49ers game will feature the league's best scoring offenses.
Six years ago, both clubs battled for the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLVII. The Joe Flacco-led Ravens were crowned champions after a 34-31 victory over Colin Kaepernick and Co.
With different names under center now, the two teams hold a combined 19-3 record through 12 weeks in 2019. Baltimore enters the clash on a seven-game winning streak, while San Francisco has lost just one contest this season.
