Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that he believes wide receiver A.J. Green will make his season debut Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

However, several hours later, Taylor revealed that Green's ankle didn't feel right during the team's walkthrough, so the Bengals opted to hold him out of practice, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

Taylor added the star pass-catcher is considered day-to-day, making his status for Week 10 uncertain.

Green has missed the Bengals' first eight games - all losses - after undergoing surgery in July for an ankle injury suffered on the opening day of training camp.

The potential return of Green coincides with the first career start of fourth-round rookie Ryan Finley, who's taking over for a benched Andy Dalton.

The 31-year-old wideout - who's in the last year of his contract - has reiterated his desire to remain in Cincinnati. The two parties are in talks for a new extension.

Widely recognized as one of the NFL's best receivers when healthy, Green racked up 46 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns in nine appearances in 2018. He was sidelined for seven games last season with a toe injury.
