Nice terminated Lamine Diaby Fadiga's contract on Tuesday after the 18-year-old admitted to stealing teammate Kasper Dolberg's watch.
Dolberg, a summer signing from Ajax, had his timepiece stolen from the Nice dressing room on Sept. 16 and reported the theft to police. The watch was worth €70,000, according to ESPN's Julien Laurens.
"Above and beyond all sporting and financial consideration, OGC Nice cannot and will not accept such behaviour that betrays the confidence that unites all the club's employees and all the members of the Rouge et Noir family," the Ligue 1 club said in its statement.
Diaby Fadiga featured in six Ligue 1 matches last season and is a youth international for France.
