Rubio named World Cup MVP, joins Gasol on tournament's All-Star 5
Spain point guard Ricky Rubio was named the 2019 FIBA World Cup MVP Sunday after a 20-point performance helped his side defeat Argentina in the final.
The new Phoenix Suns ball-handler was also selected for the tournament's All-Star Five, where he joined teammate Marc Gasol, Serbia's Bogdan Bogdanovic, France's Evan Fournier, and Argentina's Luis Scola.

Rubio averaged 16.4 points in the competition and scored less than 17 points just once - a five-point display in a first-round win over Iran. He also finished the tournament averaging six assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals while shooting 46% from the field (38.7% from three).
His 20-point showing in the final was his best single-game performance in the tournament, and it followed a stretch of three consecutive games with 19 points against Serbia, Poland, and Australia.
