For the third consecutive season, Cagliari supporters have seemingly aimed racial abuse at a black footballer.

As Inter's Romelu Lukaku stepped up to the penalty spot during Sunday's Serie A clash, the Belgian striker of Congolese descent was the victim of monkey chants mixed with whistles. After scoring the match-winner from the spot in the 72nd minute, Lukaku can be seen glaring at Cagliari fans at the Sardegna Arena.

Last season, former Juventus striker and Italian international Moise Kean was the subject of racist chants. In January 2018, Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi was the recipient of similar abuse.

Cagliari were not punished for the Kean incident. A statement from the league read: "The chants in question, although certainly reprehensible, had objectively limited relevance during the match."
