The Philadelphia 76ers have hired nine-year NBA center Roy Hibbert in a player development coaching role, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Hibbert last played in the Association during the 2016-17 season with the Denver Nuggets.
He enjoyed his best stretch of basketball with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 11.1 points, 6.8 boards, and 1.9 blocks per contest from 2008-15. During his tenure in the Hoosier State, Hibbert earned two All-Star appearances and NBA All-Defense second-team honors along with helping the Pacers reach a pair of Eastern Conference finals.
The 32-year-old went unsigned after the Nuggets renounced his rights. Hibbert eventually announced his retirement in July 2018.
