Los Angeles Clippers guard Landry Shamet withdrew from USA Basketball's Select Team camp on Friday due to a minor muscle contusion in his lower leg, a source told The Athletic's Jovan Buha.

The 22-year-old wants to be healthy for the Clippers' training camp. He was excited to participate in the Select Team camp and had a legitimate shot at making the United States' 12-man World Cup roster, league sources told Buha.

USA Basketball announced Saturday that Torrey Craig of the Denver Nuggets will replace Shamet.

"(Shamet) was appreciative of the opportunity and hopes to be part of USAB again in future," Shamet's agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Shamet produced an impressive rookie season in 2018-19, averaging 9.1 points on 43.1 percent shooting from the floor - including a 42.2 percent mark from distance - across 79 appearances. He was named to the NBA's All-Rookie second team.

The Wichita State product was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in the Tobias Harris blockbuster deal on the eve of the NBA trade deadline.

Many high-profile Americans have dropped out before Monday's national team training camp, including James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Damian Lillard.
