Report: Spurs 'pissed' after Morris backs out of deal to join Knicks

Marcus Morris recently backed out of a deal with the San Antonio Spurs - and the organization apparently isn't pleased.

"They're pissed," one general manager told The Athletic's Frank Isola of Morris' decision to spurn San Antonio and instead sign a one-year, $15-million deal with the New York Knicks.

San Antonio had reportedly agreed to a two-year, $20-million contract with the veteran forward. They'd also created additional cap space to make it happen by trading Davis Bertans' $7-million expiring contract to the Washington Wizards and restructuring their original agreement with forward DeMarre Carroll.

However, New York was able to offer a higher annual salary to Morris after the club gained more financial flexibility when it re-worked an agreement with Reggie Bullock due to an unforeseen medical issue.

Morris averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 boards per contest across 75 appearances last season for the Boston Celtics. He also shot a career-high 44.7 percent from the floor, including 37.5 percent from distance.
