Report: Manchester United prepare £50M bid for Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United will reportedly lodge a formal offer for Bruno Fernandes over the next three weeks.
Sporting CP have already turned down approaches from the Red Devils for Fernandes but will soon receive another bid worth £50 million, according to the Independent's Miguel Delaney.
United are apparently confident of reaching an agreement for the Portuguese international but do anticipate the fee to eclipse £50 million by the time a transfer is completed.
Fernandes, 24, had an explosive campaign for Sporting in 2018-19, scoring 20 goals and assisting 13 times in Portugal's top flight. He's won 13 caps for his country.
Striking a lucrative deal for the coveted talent is not dependent on the possible departure of Paul Pogba, Delaney states. The Frenchman said last month that he desires a "new challenge" away from Old Trafford, but it's understood Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to revamp his midfield regardless of whether Pogba leaves or not.
United's interest in Sean Longstaff is also still alive, Delaney understands. Despite starting only eight Premier League matches for Newcastle United, the 21-year-old's club could demand close to £50 million for his transfer.
