It appears the Los Angeles Lakers will be able to make a major signing when free agency begins.

Anthony Davis is waiving his $4-million trade kicker in his move to Los Angeles, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Davis' decision - in conjunction with an agreement with the Washington Wizards - will leave the Lakers with $32 million in cap space this offseason, enabling them to sign a max player or divide the money up among multiple players.

Los Angeles cleared money by dealing Moritz Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones to the Wizards, which made the Davis trade with the New Orleans Pelicans a three-team deal, league sources told ESPN's Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

Meanwhile, Washington will receive the Lakers' 2022 second-round pick, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania, while sending an undisclosed amount of cash to L.A., according to The Athletic's David Aldridge.

The trade will officially be completed on July 6.

LeBron James has reportedly been in contact with Toronto Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard, who apparently intends to meet with the Lakers when free agency begins.

Brooklyn Nets guard D'Angelo Russell has also been linked to a reunion with the Lakers.
