Report: Mavs favorites for Horford; Lakers, Clippers also interested
The free-agent market for Al Horford is beginning to take shape.
The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly the favorites to land the 33-year-old center, though the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers are also interested, league sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.
The Dominican big man is reportedly searching for a four-year deal after spurning a supposed three-year, $60-million offer from the Boston Celtics. The Mavericks and Clippers can likely sign Horford outright into their available cap space. However, the Lakers may need to get financially creative or persuade Horford to lower his ask following their all-but-official trade for Anthony Davis over the weekend.
Horford is expected to decline his $30.1-million player option for next season with the Celtics, allowing him to hit free agency this summer. Both parties were reportedly planning to negotiate a reworked deal at a lower annual value, but talks suddenly broke down.
