Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt went unclaimed on waivers, making him a free agent, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Several teams did consider putting in a claim on Hunt but decided against doing so, Rapoport adds.
Hunt was waived after a video surfaced that showed him kicking a woman in a hotel in February.
The 23-year-old is still on the commissioner's exempt list, preventing him from practicing with any team or playing in a game as the NFL resumes its investigation of the incident.
Hunt led the league in rushing last year as a rookie. He piled up 824 yards with seven rushing touchdowns in 11 games for Kansas City this season.
