The Cincinnati Bengals placed quarterback Andy Dalton on injured reserve with an injured thumb on his throwing hand, ending his season.
Dalton suffered the injury during Week 12 on Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns. Tests revealed torn ligaments, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Bengals are expected to give Jeff Driskel his first career start when they face the Denver Broncos in Week 13. Additionally, Cincinnati claimed journeyman quarterback Tom Savage off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers.
Dalton, an eighth-year veteran, threw for 2,566 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions across 11 contests this season. The 31-year-old has two years left on his contract.
