Report: Chiefs' Watkins out until playoffs with foot injury
The NFL's highest-scoring offense suffered another blow Friday as Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to be sidelined until the playoffs due to a foot injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Watkins was ruled out for Week 10 and returned to play just five snaps in Week 11 before aggravating the injury. He missed the Chiefs' Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders and Rapoport adds the receiver was unable to practice Thursday.
The 25-year-old has played 10 games this season, catching 40 passes for 519 yards and three touchdowns after signing a three-year, $48-million contract as a free agent in the offseason.
The Chiefs are averaging a league-best 37.0 points per game this season, but the loss of Watkins follows the release of sophomore running back Kareem Hunt on Nov. 30 after video surfaced of him pushing and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel.
Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was reportedly signed Thursday evening for the remainder of the 2018 campaign following his release from the Buffalo Bills, but he isn't expected to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14, according to Brooke Pryor of the Kansas City Star.
