Liverpool will only allow Divock Origi to join Borussia Dortmund on loan if there's an obligation to buy written into the paperwork, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law.
The Reds previously slapped a £27-million price tag on the Belgian striker's head, but Dortmund made it clear they would prefer a season-long loan. However, with Origi in the final two years of his contract, Liverpool are keen to avoid him leaving for a cut-price fee after a one-term spell in Germany, or for nothing in the summer of 2020.
Dortmund are understood to still be in talks to bring in Origi, but time is running out, with the German transfer window closing at the end of the month. The 23-year-old spent last season at VfL Wolfsburg, scoring only six league goals.
Origi, who has been told he can leave if the right offer comes, cost Liverpool £10 million to sign from Lille in 2014. He was apparently prepared to stay and fight for a place on Jurgen Klopp's squad.
Liverpool also dug in their heels with Danny Ings' loan to Southampton. After initially valuing the frontman at £24 million, the Merseysiders rubber-stamped a temporary shift to the Saints that will turn permanent next summer for a fee that could be worth up to £20 million.
