Report: Kawhi still intent on joining Lakers
Though the San Antonio Spurs are exploring their trade options with other teams around the league, their disgruntled star reportedly hasn't changed his mind about where he wants to go.
Kawhi Leonard's focus remains on getting himself to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Whether that happens this summer or next is up to the Lakers and Spurs, who so far haven't been able to get much traction toward a deal. The Lakers are likely reluctant to part with significant assets, given that they can just sign Leonard as a free agent in a year. The Spurs, meanwhile, have reportedly been asking for a king's ransom in exchange for the 27-year-old.
It could be a while before the two sides make their way to some sort of middle ground, if they ever do.
