Ottawa RedBlacks linebacker Kyries Hebert was given a one-game suspension for a hit on Calgary Stampeders wide receiver DaVaris Daniels.

"As a league and a leader in football, we need to eliminate these type of hits,” CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said via the league's official website. "A play like this puts unnecessary risk to a player’s safety and has no place in the game."

Hebert recorded 110 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and three forced fumbles in 18 games with the Montreal Alouettes in 2017. The 37-year-old was named a CFL East All-Star for the second time in his career as a result.

Hebert requested a release in February, and after Montreal granted it he signed with Ottawa.
