Liverpool isn't wasting any time in bolstering its squad after its heartbreaking loss in the Champions League final.

The Reds announced they have agreed to a deal with Monaco for midfielder Fabinho, with the transfer set to be finalised on July 1. Liverpool did not specify a fee, though The Telegraph's Jason Burt reported the move will cost the Merseyside club an initial €45 million, with the potential to climb to as high as €50 million through performance-related add-ons.

Fabinho is the first of two players who are now guaranteed to make the switch to Anfield this summer, joining RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita. Keita's transfer was agreed upon by both clubs last August.

"This is something that I always wanted - this is a giant of a team," Fabinho said in a statement. "The infrastructures of the club look exceptional.

"A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn't have to think that much about coming over."

Fabinho is likely to replace Emre Can in Liverpool's midfield, as the 24-year-old German is reportedly expected to join Juventus in the coming days. The Merseyside club is also said to be interested in signing Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir and reportedly has its eye on Roma goalkeeper Alisson.
