U.S. soccer legend Brandi Chastain's HOF plaque looks nothing like her

As one of the most decorated soccer players in the history of the United States, Brandi Chastain's visage should be well-known across the country.

One plaque-maker missed the memo.

Chastain, now 49, won two Olympic gold medals and two World Cups with the women's national team, and scored the winning penalty against China in the 1999 World Cup final, leading to her fabled celebration in her sports bra. For her accomplishments, the San Jose native was inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, but the plaque was a little lacking as a likeness.

The plaque indeed drew comparisons to a bust of Cristiano Ronaldo unveiled last year, which was lambasted on social media for looking nothing like the Portuguese superstar.

Naturally, Chastain's marker received its own share of Twitter scrutiny.

But rest assured: A new plaque is on the way.
