Report: Cowboys refused to exchange 2nd-round pick for Earl Thomas
It's possible a deal involving Seattle Seahawks star Earl Thomas was closer to fruition than we could've imagined, only for the Dallas Cowboys to flinch.
Thomas fueled rumors about a potential move to the Cowboys after greeting members of their staff following a Dec. 24 victory and has been the subject of trade rumors since.
The Cowboys reportedly balked at the notion of giving up their second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft in a deal involving Thomas, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported live on the broadcast Monday. Dallas used the pick on offensive lineman Connor Williams. It was previously reported that both teams discussed a second-round pick for Thomas.
During the draft, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones remained coy about a potential deal, telling reporters he couldn't speak about Thomas.
For the time being, the idea of Thomas reuniting with his boyhood club appears to be a distant possibility.
